Weight loss management specialist and Cardiologist Dr. Luiza Petre and Obstetrics & Gynecologist Dr. Natalia Merimaris hosted 75 guests for a healthy holiday party at the Crown Building on Fifth Avenue.
The idea behind the event was to let their guests know that while never-ending temptations are everywhere, holiday parties and meals don’t have to interrupt your healthy weight loss journey. Dr. Luiza Petre treated her guests with delicious and healthy canapés and cocktails.
Guests included: Dr. Judith Goldstein, Dr. Dilip Madnani, Dr. Steven Victor, Liana Makkos, Ambassador Mary Elizabeth Flores, and Isabel Biderman.
Dr. Petre sent her guests home with weight loss tips that are easy to execute. She led by saying, “Preparation is critical to successful weight loss.”
Here are a few of Dr. Luiza’s Healthy Tips:
Tip 1: Fuel Up on the Right Breakfast
Do not skip breakfast to “save” the calories for that party or family get together. This doesn’t work and you end up overeating later on.
Tip 2: Reset Your Idea of Portions
Shares entrees with friends in restaurants and fill only the middle circle of your plate. Cut portions in a half when possible.
Tip 3: Make Simple Food Swaps
Using spices, lemon or balsamic vinegar instead of dressings/oil.
Tip 4: Eat Your (Leafy) Greens
Low in calories and packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, greens are essential to jump-start your energy.
Tip 5: Add Artichokes to Your Plate
Artichokes are a great fat-busting food. Low in carbs and high in fiber, these spiky globes also take a long time to eat.
Tip 6: Be Extra Mindful of Alcohol Choices
Alcohol slows down metabolism. Alternate one glass of water for each of alcohol and and opt for gin, tequila or vodka with a low-sugar flavor cocktail.
Loss Tip 7: Just Keep Drinking Water!
Thirst can be perceived as hunger. Water helps you eat less, keeps your body running and flushing out lingering toxins.
Tip 8: Don’t Skip Exercise During Holidays
Your body, mind, and waistline will thank you.
