Celebrates New and Established Supporters of The Power of the Arts in Helping New York City Youth in Foster Care
Culture For One, the only organization in New York City dedicated to improving the outcomes for the city’s youth in the foster care system through the arts, hosted a reception to celebrate established supporters and introduce new members of the community to the important work of the organization.
Generously hosted at the townhouse of Tony Award-winning producers Janet & Howard Kagan, speakers at the event included author and producer Susan Fales-Hill, CEO of JCCA The Honorable Ronald E. Richter, and the organization’s Art Scholarships Coordinator Robin Abbott. Guests included Culture For One founder Linn Tanzman, and prominent figures from across the fields of the arts, entertainment, education, business, and philanthropy, such as Cathleen Lewis, Kasia & Doug McCormick, Mayrav Fisher, Jennifer Scully-Lerner, Betsy Cohen, Kamilah Forbes, Jennifer Bandier, Danielle O’Bannon, Ruth Rathblott, and Lauren Girshon, among others.
Founder Linn Tanzman said of the organization, “Now, more than ever, we all need to do our part to help those in need and continue to work toward our goals. We want to improve the dismal outcomes for youth coming out of the foster care system, and help those in care break the barriers that hold them back from achieving their dreams. She added, “Sources of inspiration, exposure to new possibilities, positive experiences, role models, and encouragement can all change the trajectories of the nearly 10,000 youth struggling in the system.”

About Culture For One
Culture For One’s mission is to inspire New York City children living in foster care by providing cultural experiences and exposure to a broader world. Through these opportunities we are improving outcomes for these most vulnerable youth, and for some, changing their trajectories forever. Culture For One uses the arts as a vehicle to connect with these children and teens, motivate them, widen their view of what is possible to achieve, and stimulate their aspirations. The programs, available to children in NYC foster care, ages 21 months to 21-years-old, include cultural excursions to museums and performances, arts scholarships, and on-site workshops.
