DJ and photographer Christopher Logan, better known as DJ Logan’s Run, is quickly becoming a household name in the house music scene. The Brooklyn based DJ has played during Miami Music Week and was asked to DJ the Mercedes-Benz “Together We Arrive” event at the New York Auto Show to celebrate the LGBTQ community’s monumental year. Logan’s Run also has two residencies at Brooklyn’s Rebar and Kinfolk. He is also the co-founder of Faith Lift Party alongside DJ Beargazer. The duo is known for merging spirituality, soulful house music, gospel house, deep house, disco, funk, and classic soul jams at their infamous, underground and eponymously named “Faith Lift Party.”
Logan’s Run recently put together a playlist entitled “Passport to Paradise” that’s perfect for those beautiful Hampton nights, those East End sunrises and everything in between. He gives the rundown (no pun intended) on some of his favorite songs from the playlist and where you can catch him this summer.
What kind of vibe are you going for with this playlist?
My playlist for Social Life Magazine is the ultimate summertime companion for all things Hamptons. Whether you’re on the way to the beach, Bridgehampton Polo, or just relaxing at home with friend’s poolside. It’s a mix of cool jazz, pop summer anthems, and hits from around the globe.
Who are some of the artists featured and why?
Richard Cortez & Alex Mejia are an amazing duo based in New York, Richard’s velvety voice paired with Alex’s string work on the guitar is pure magic.
Alessandra Amoroso is one of my favorite Italian artists, her song “Comunque Andare” is a feel-good song! Whether you speak Italian or not. You be belting it in no time.
Milk & Sugar’s “Let The Sunshine” simply makes you smile. It’s always a crowd favorite!
Pabllo Vittar & Charli XCX this hands down is the instant song of the Summer for me. It’s Pabllo’s first song in English, she’s an Icon in Brazil and globally. It’s exciting seeing her crossover in the US Market.
Jack Savoretti and MIKA, “Youth and Love” is a fusion of rock, funk, and jazzy grooves. Both singers have truly unique vocal stylings. It’s on repeat constantly at my house.
Will you integrate some songs from the playlist into your set? Or perhaps the entire playlist?
I surely will integrate some of the songs from my playlist including some surprises. I always like to keep my audience on their toes!
Where can people catch you this summer?
You can catch me at several places this Summer, every third Saturday I’ll be at Kinfolk 90 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for “We Are Family”. This is an awesome monthly party where we spin disco, house, funk, and throwbacks. Myself, DJ Beargazer and our guest DJs will be rocking the house all till the wee hours. In addition, you can hear me every Friday night in Manhattan at Rebar for a packed weekly party called Boys. I’ll also be traveling to the West Coast soon and abroad for a few performances. The best way to stay in touch is following me @djlogansrun to stay up to date for all shows!
