Nestled within a gorgeous space in Midtown Manhattan is the jewel of all med spas: Skintology MedSpa Manhattan. With a focus on promoting health and well-being, Skintology MedSpa uses a comprehensive and personalized approach to both minimally invasive and non-invasive procedures. The field of aesthetic medicine and surgery can be overwhelming for people, so the spa’s philosophy is to educate and provide clients with tools and resources to guide smart decision-making in areas that concern appearance, age, and sexual wellness.
Social Life sat down with Skintology’s business owner, the board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden, to learn more about her magical med spa:
It’s been said that looking great these days is a lot easier than it was just ten years ago. How have things changed and what are people doing differently?
New procedures, lifestyle choices, and new at-home skincare products have helped patients be more informed. Minimally invasive and nonsurgical treatments that can yield good results with little to no downtime have also added to increased accessibility of cosmetic procedures, making it easier to look your best. Botox, dermal fillers, noninvasive fat reduction, laser hair removal, and other beauty treatments have become popular over the years. Many of our patients flock to our medical-grade skincare products, such as ZO Skin Health or SkinCeuticals to help overcome concerns such as discoloration or acne scarring.
What are some popular procedures?
Non-invasive body sculpting treatments are very popular now. CoolSculpting is a fat reduction procedure which works through a process known as cryolipolysis to freeze fat cells under the skin, which enables your body to naturally process and eliminate those cells to give a slimmer look. An alternative to CoolSculpting is SculpSure, which uses heat to target and melt small pockets of stubborn fat in just 25 minutes!
Are there any new beauty techniques or procedures that we should know about?
At Skintology, we offer so many modern and innovative options. The Vampire Facial has grown extremely popular in recent years and involves microneedling and PRP (platelet rich plasma) to expedite healing for glowing results. We also offer radiofrequency microneedling (Vivace) which can help with pigment and texture.
Any tips to help us get a great derrière?
Sculptra is an alternative to a surgical version of the Brazilian buttock lift. This dermal filler can be injected into the buttocks to build volume and to create a full and more round appearance.
